Privacy policy

"Latest and Greatest Bot" is a small tool run by the owner of the Latest and Greatest Facebook Page. It finds fresh news stories from public news feeds, writes a short post about one of them, and publishes it to that Page. This policy explains what it does with information.

Information from Facebook

The app uses Facebook's Pages API only to publish posts to the Latest and Greatest Page and to read that Page's own basic details. It does not collect, store or process any information that identifies people who view, like, comment on or follow the Page, and it does not access anyone's personal Facebook profile, messages or friends.

The only Facebook data it keeps is the ID of each post it publishes and that post's totals (how many reactions, comments and shares it has), so the Page owner can see what was posted and how it did. It never stores who reacted, commented or shared, or what any comment says.

Other information

• News content: headlines and links from public news feeds, and short summaries of those articles, used to choose and write posts.
• Page owner's account: the email address, a securely hashed password and an authenticator secret for the private dashboard. These belong to the Page owner, not to members of the public.

Story summaries and post drafts are produced with Anthropic's Claude API. Only public news content is sent, never anyone's personal information. The tool runs on Cloudflare's infrastructure.

Sharing

Information is not sold or shared with anyone, except the service providers above that run the tool.

Deleting data

Because the app holds no information about Facebook users, there is nothing to delete for anyone other than the Page owner. See data deletion instructions for how to ask anyway.
