Greece is banning under-15s from TikTok, Instagram and the rest from 1 January 2027, and a QR code and a government app called Kids Wallet will police it.

The law passed this week after a debate lasting more than 16 hours. Parents can't give permission either. If a platform can't tell someone's age, the app tells it just one thing: over or under 15.

Firms that don't comply face fines of up to 6% of global annual turnover under EU rules.
