Thames Valley Police has accepted that the warrants used to search Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's homes after his arrest in February were unlawful.

The problem was the legal basis. The Central Criminal Court issued them under section 8 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, when they should have been issued under section 9.

The seized documents and devices stay with police for now. A closed hearing in 2027 will decide whether they can be used as evidence. He denies any wrongdoing.
