Asylum firm offered £4,500 for flat councils rent at £1,790
Clearsprings made £62.6million profit on a contract worth around £7billion

A Home Office asylum housing firm offered a south London landlord £4,500 a month for a three-bed flat Southwark Council rents for £1,790.
The firm, Clearsprings, made £62.6million profit in the year to January 2025. Its contract is worth around £7billion. According to a document seen by The Sun, it's hunting for homes in places including Bedford, Southampton and Wrexham.
The landlord turned it down. Councils housing homeless families can't match the offer. They're capped.
Is it right that taxpayers are funding both sides of this bidding war?
